Additional Information
LED technology made in Germany
When developing our LED systems every tiny little detail was important to us. All the components including the housing, the thermo-elements and the electronics board – the heart of each TESZLA – was made by us in Germany. Fully automated board assembly and robot-controlled manufacture allow for competitive production whilst, at the same time, ensuring extremely high manufacturing quality and construction precision.
Every TESZLA light is equipped with a micro-controller which monitors the internal operational temperature of the LED. Once a predetermined temperature has been reached, an integrated fan is turned on. The speed of this fan is adjusted depending on the heat generation. This ensures that every light can always work under optimal conditions and will not be damaged due to overheating.
Fascinating light output
The selection and assembly of the light boards alone prove that the TESZLA series features the most up-to-date technology. Every group of lights is controlled its own output driver. All the driver circuits are controlled via an ultra-modern processor which monitors all lighting and operational parameters so as to ensure constant colour and light values.
Thanks to the latest XLamp(R) XM-L High-Voltage LED from CREE, the system uses less electricity and provides an impressive amount of light. Every board features a combination of CREE XM-L white LEDs, CREE XP-G blue and royal blue LEDs as well as two special LEDs – the entire output is 66 Watts.
With regard to the optics we avoided using additional lenses as this means that a lot of the light output is lost. TESZLA is therefore equipped with a loss-free 120° lens which provides the aquarium with the entire amount of light emitted.
Contrary to many other lighting systems with lenses, there is no danger of coral being bleached by concentrated beams.
GIESEMANN’S many years of experience come into play when developing this light and when defining the light distribution. Integrated mirrors reflect all light beams onto the surface to be illuminated and thus guarantee perfect lighting.
Fully automated lighting program
We constructed TESZLA so that it only requires a few programming steps to enable the perfect light simulation throughout the day.
The board features 4 differently assembled circuits with a total of 20 LEDs which are separated into three groups for individual programming. Select the desired light output for each colour group to create your personal mix of colours. Once you have confirmed the colour selection, the light will automatically start with the sunrise cycle and regulates the system at predefined times turning the desired light output up and down as required. During the night phase a moonlight simulation kicks in using the royal blue LED on a reduced setting.
In addition to this, each TESZLA light features an interface to your existing aquarium computer thus making it possible to control each individual group of lights externally. This means that numerous lighting scenarios can be implemented depending on your computer.
Modular assembly options
TESZLA lights can be used in a variety of situations. For assembly on or above the aquarium we provide two options – attachment via an adjustable steel wire suspension or via an assembly bracket designed especially for the TESZLA series that attaches to the edge of the aquarium (available as an accessory).
Extensive warranty
As the TESZLA series is 100% made in Germany we are able to guarantee the highest performance and quality standards.
At the same time we offer a simple replacement parts service so that your lighting does not become a disposable product.
As with all GIESEMANN products, the TESZLA series has undergone extensive long-term testing.
As the only TÜV certified company for aquarium illumination worldwide, we can therefore guarantee both the high standards and the safety of our products. That is why all our products come with a 24 month guarantee.

FAQ.
What size area does a single fixture cover?
The footprint depends on the height above the water surface. We developed our TESZLA series with wide focus optics for the best light output. We recomend a light intensive area of 17 x 17 inch by placing the fixture close to the water.
Your intensity chart makes it looks like a single fixture will cover a 4 ft tank. Is that correct?
No. The chart is not intended to show how large an area the fixture will cover but rather the light intensity of several monitoring points. The chart indicates the total area measured including the areas with a lower intensity.
What is included in the price of the fixture?
The price includes the fixture, with 20 high power CREE LEDs, the power supply and the integrated controller. In addition some optional items are available for purchase:
- A steel wire hanging suspension kit
- An aquarium mounting bracket, made of powder coated V4A stainless steel.
- An optional controller interface. Each fixture can be controlled either by the internal controller that is included with the fixture or with almost any aquarium controller, with the purchase of this optional interface.
Can this fixture be used for a freshwater planted aquarium?
The LED board contains LEDs with a blue-heavy spectrum. We do not recomend this for freshwater aquariums containing plants. We are working on LEDs for both emersal and submersal plants, but up to now we have not been satisfied with the available blend of LEDs.
What type of testing has your LED fixture under gone?
The lights and LED boards have been running for 28 months under real and artificial conditions without any technical problems. Performance data is logged daily by our engineers for all of our test fixtures. We have used and tested about 120 boards and fixtures during that time.
GIESEMANN is the only company worldwide with certified aquarium fixtures meeting the very strict rules of the TUV institute. Before a fixture gets the TUV certificate, the complete manufacturing process and the company needs to be certified. During the approval process 25 fixtures are tested in several ways. Overheating in 60°C (140°F) for 21 days, Salt spray chamber for 4 weeks, 5000 Volt overvoltage etc. – All 25 units need to work after this time. In addition, the independent TUV engineers visit twice a year and randomly select 5 units of each model for additional testing.
What replacement components are available?
For our registered products we offer a full service warranty of 24 months. If any failure occurs within the first 2 years, we change the complete product. Our fixture is design so the whole LED board can be replaced. We will not ask customers to replace single LEDs by opening the fixtures and repairing it themselves.
LEDs in all fixtures are connected in a series connection. Many simple fixtures have just a mains adaptor for all LEDs (same as fairy lights). Others have a driver which supports up to 12 LEDs together.
If one LED fails all other LEDs in this circuit will be overdriven by a higher voltage. In those circumstances it is usually just a question of some hours and all other LED in this circuit will be damaged too.
In other words, just changing single LEDs is not good solution. There is also the risk of damaging the complete electronics with a static electricity charge when replacing single LEDs.
Some companies state that their fixture can be upgraded at any time with a new generation of LEDs however it is not possible to run stronger or different LEDs in the future without changing the controlling electronics. Each new LED generation also needs different driving and processing components.
For these reasons we believe it is more appropriate to offer a replacement of the complete board, with the benefit of getting 20 fresh new LEDS and brand new electronics.
All parts on all GIESEMANN fixtures are available as replacement. For our fixtures we guarantee replacement parts for 10 years after purchase.
