- Solar 1000 series of dimmers are microprocessor based controllers designed to simulate all the important solar and lunar events.
- Solar dimmers are designed to be used in conjunction with IceCap VHO electronic ballasts to dim VHO lamps. They will not dim metal halide or compact fluorescent lamps.
- All dimmers are approved by IceCap for use with all their ballasts.
Features
- Dimming - VHO lamps up to 66 kilowatts using IceCap 660. User has full control of settings.
- Solar Cycle - Create dawn, dusk, noon photoperiods by adjusting intensity curve and maximum output.
- Dawn & Dusk - Allows for a gradual increase in the morning to eliminate the sudden shock of high intensity lighting. It will also reverse this process at the end of the day.
- Daylight Levels - Allows the user to recreate the natural increase and decrease of light intensity typically seen in a day. Calculates winter and summer solstice and adjusts daily photoperiod.
- Storm Center - Randomly creates sunny, partly sunny, or mostly cloudy days. You set the level of storm activity for the month or seasonally. The day's forecast is displayed on the status screen.
- Lunar Cycle - A moonlight port that can be used with a small incandescent bulb to simulate the phases of the moon. Up to 300 watts of incandescent lighting from 0-100%. Studies have shown that many corals spawn in synchronism with the lunar cycle.
- Status Screen - LCD screen sequentially displays the following information: time, date, weather forecast, dawn, sunrise, noon, sunset, dusk.
- Time & Date - Set the current time and date for local and alternate time zone.
- Ground Plane Kit - A mylar tape which is applied to the back of each bulb and grounded to a ground wire. This provides smooth dimming by allowing current to pass through the entire bulb when low voltage is applied. The kit includes one roll of tape that is 10 yards long by 2" wide. This allows for the installation of a ground plane on up to eight 4 ft. lamps. Four clips, each having a 6 ft. reach between the lamps and the nearest ground. Each clip supports two lamps that are within 6" of each other.
- Secondary IceCap Port - Enables the dimming of two ballasts. Second ballast can be offset by up to one hour.
- X-10 Control Port - Independently turn on and off items such as lights, fans, pumps, etc. Requires X-10 interface and satellites.
- X-10 Timer Channels (4) - Turns on and off one timer per day.
- Doser Timers - Four independent dosing controls. Each can be set to dose 1, 2, or 4 times daily. Each doser can be turned on from 5 seconds to one hour.
