Eshopps Bio-Lux Ultra Porous Ceramic Bio Media [4 pk]

BRIEF DESCRIPTION: BioLux from Eshopps is a new biomedia for all aquariums with a unique shape and structure. The combination of square and spiral structure allows BioLux to be easily placed in all kinds of tanks, filters and sumps while the spiral gives water a continuous path to flow through the structure. The external plastic mesh is there mostly to protect the BioLux from damage in shipping but it can be left in place and helps to keep the BioLux well-spaced for water to flow between them as well as all around. The ceramic media is stated to have an average pH of between 8 and 9 and each block has an approximate surface area estimated to be around 1,000 square meters, or just under 4,000 square feet.

The approximately six inch by 1.5 inch ‘sticks’ should enable aquarists to place this high capacity biomedia in a wide range of aquarium high flow zones, as well as to shoehorn them into aquarium overflows, first chambers of sumps and the like. There’s no doubt that a well functioning reef aquarium system, or any aquarium for that matter, relies on bacteria to do most of the biological heavy lifting, but it’s about time we moved beyond using live rocks for this purpose and turn to synthetic alternatives like Eshopps BioLux.

Bio-Lux is an Ultra Porous Ceramic Bio Media, Bio-Lux 4pk that can hand the biological load for a 50g aquarium. Each piece measures 6 3/8" x 1 1/2" x 1 1/2". Increase in beneficial bacteria for nitrification and denitrification. Removes harmful Ammonia, Nitrites and Nitrates. Decreases aquarium maintenance- fewer water changes. Stabilizes ph between 8.0-8.4. Each box of 4 contains over 43,000 sq ft. of surface area for beneficial bacteria growth. Bio-Lux is a superior media for holding bacteria andissuitedforSaltwater and Higher PH Freshwater tanks. Bio-Lux is extremely hydrophilic and is extremely good at retaining moisture.
